Violence in Lesbian Partner Relationships

The “Violence in Lesbian Partner Relationships” program has been one of the organization’s key areas of work since its establishment, while its systematic and focused development has been underway since 2022. In order to better understand the specific nature of this form of violence, the first research in Serbia focusing on violence in lesbian partner relationships was conducted, laying the foundation for further program development and advocacy for adequate support mechanisms.

Building on the findings of the research, concrete support services were developed: psychotherapy groups were established, individual psychological support was provided, and a legal counseling service was made available to women experiencing violence. A particular milestone was reached in 2025 with the launch of the SOS contact center, providing direct and accessible support to women in acute situations of violence.

The program responds to the immediate needs of women experiencing violence while also working towards their long-term empowerment. Through educational activities and training, women are supported in recognizing patterns of toxic and abusive relationships, as well as in developing strategies for leaving situations of violence and building safer and more autonomous lives.
