Rainbow Families

The “Rainbow Families” group has been active since 2021 and has continued to grow and evolve. Today, it brings together about 30 families and more than 60 adults, forming a diverse, connected community. Rainbow Families include different forms of family life − same-sex couples with or without children, single-parent families, as well as various forms of co-parenting.

The program provides a space for connection, experience-sharing, and community building, as well as concrete forms of support. Members have access to legal counseling and peer-to-peer support, which enables them to share knowledge, experiences, and everyday strategies for navigating the challenges of life in Serbia.

At the same time, the “Rainbow Families” program is closely linked to advocacy for the legal recognition of same-sex partnerships. Families' experiences directly inform advocacy efforts, while long-standing initiatives to adopt legislation on same-sex partnerships and civil partnerships provide a key framework for improving their legal and social position.

By strengthening the community, increasing visibility and connecting lived experiences with public policy, the program contributes to building a society in which Rainbow Families are recognized, protected and equal, and have the conditions to live with dignity and pride in Serbia.
